The Cruncher pattern is a variation of the Pheasant tail series, although this particular pattern falls into the wet or nymph category. One prime feature of the pattern is the soft hackle that is tied behind the eye. This moves enticingly back and forth as the fly is retrieved and a firmer thorax behind it allows the hackle to flex back.
The pattern must be tied with a soft webby hackle (either soft cock or hen) to allow this movement, which is key to the successful nature of the fly.
This 5 fly set comprises normal body with variations for thorax, rib and hackle:
Normal body and hackle
Normal body +red thorax
Normal body + green thorax
Melanistic (dark) body with red holographic rib
Normal body with CdC hackle
The set is contained in a transparent lidded box and P&P is included in the price.
