It is well known that predatory fish will home in on fry that are either wounded in some way or causing a disturbance in the water. This pattern uses a silver sequin just behind the eye, that causes a large disturbance in the water when retrieved. This set comprises 5x flies, a pair of orange, a pair of black and one brown. All are tied with chenille bodies that are ribbed with pearl, marabou tail and head hackle.
One of the pair of orange and black are weighted (tied on size 10 L/S hooks) and the other fly in the pair are non-weighted (tied on extra L/S hooks). The brown fly is non-weighted. The sequin will allow the fly to sink slowly.
The picture clearly shows the sequin at the front which acts as a disturbance in the water.
These flies resemble small fish fry or leeches (black pattern when retrieved slowly along the bottom). They can be used on a long leader with either floating, intermediate or sinking lines.
They are supplied in a robust cardboard box and postage is included in the price.
As far as I know, this pattern is unique to Challenge Flies.
